Dear Mr. Sharp:
\J We have a continued problem with sour milk in a vending machine
operated by Canteen Corporation at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory,
1600 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto. I telephoned before and someone came out from
your office and inspected the machine apparently finding nothing wrong. I wasn't
there at the time to talk to him.
In my opinion, the trouble is not in the machine but in the way the milk is
handled before it is put into the machine. Only occasional cartons taste sour,
and this suggests that boxes of cartons are left too long unrefridgerated while
waiting to be loaded or something and the outer corner cartons spoil. Also, the
person in charge of our machine has often left unsold cartons in the machine, never
even checking expiration dates. Repeated complaints to Canteen Corporation have not
solved the problem.\.
Sincerely yours,
John McCarthy
